Judiciary Addresses Cybersecurity Breach
After the recent disclosure of widespread cybersecurity breaches of both private sector and government computer systems, federal courts are immediately adding new security procedures to protect highly sensitive confidential documents (HSDs) filed with the courts. Please refer to the January 6, 2021 press release of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts for additional details. The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York will be issuing a general order concerning the treatment of HSDs filed with the Court.
The Court will immediately cease the practice of uploading any sealed filings to the CM/ECF system in any format until the vulnerabilities relating to the cybersecurity breach have been resolved. The Court has also revised its Interim Under Seal Filing Procedures on its COVID-19 page.
