Court Hearings

All hearings and conferences in all divisions will be conducted telephonically pending further order of the Bankruptcy Judge assigned to the matter. See General Order M-543

Information on how to file documents and pay filing fees is noted below. 

 

Self-Represented Individuals (Filing Without an Attorney)

Pending further notice, self-represented individuals may file documents with the court using the court's PDF Uploader tool. Please click here to file. Attorneys should file documents through CM/ECF.

Court filings and fees

Paper filings are accepted at drop boxes located in the lobby of the courthouse in each divisional office. Documents and any filing fees must be placed in a sealed envelope.

Payment must be made in the form of a money order or cashier’s check made payable to “Clerk, USBC, SDNY”.  Please include contact information or case information if available in the memo section of the payment.  Personal checks are not accepted. Cash payments will not be accepted at this time.

Mail

At this time, the Court is accepting all mail received by normal delivery procedure.  Any mail sent to the Court must not require special handling. (i.e., signature required.)  Mail that is marked for a required signature will not be accepted.

All mail for the Manhattan division must be delivered to the front entrance only.

Bankruptcy Legal Clinic

All in-person Bankruptcy Legal Clinic appointments are temporarily suspended.  As an alternative to the in-person clinic, please contact the Court’s customer service at (212) 284-4040. 

 

Interim Under Seal Filing Procedures

Upon filing the motion to seal on CM/ECF, the moving party must mail to the appropriate divisional office a hard copy of the motion to seal, the proposed sealing order, and the unredacted document(s) sought to be sealed.  The envelope containing the documents must be conspicuously marked “FILED UNDER PENDING MOTION TO SEAL.”  The party should also submit the documents in a thumb drive storage device.
