Self-represented litigants may pay certain court fees online using Pay.gov, a program of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
This payment portal is for fees due to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York only. Registered ECF users must continue to submit payment through the CM/ECF system when filing a document requiring a fee.
Pay.gov is free to use. Users can proceed as a guest by selecting the 'Continue to the Form' button on pay.gov or may create an account.
To Pay Electronically
- Need the Case Number.
- Verify Filing Fees before making a payment. Please call the Clerk’s Office if you do not know the amount of the fee due.

- Debit Card (preferred payment method)
- ACH (linked to U.S. held bank account)
Important Payment Information:
- A $53.00 fee will be charged for returned payments due to insufficient funds or chargeback.
- Debtors cannot pay by credit card.
- This payment option cannot be used to pay Chapter 13 plan payments, or Chapter 11 quarterly fees to the trustee. You must pay the trustee directly.
What court fees can I pay electronically?
Filing fee payments for Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 cases in full or installments, adversary proceedings, amended schedules, appeals, certain motions requiring fees, and several records services.
When will my payment be processed?
When you make your payment, Pay.gov will let you know when your payment will be transmitted to the court. Please make your payment prior to the due date to ensure it is processed on time.
- Payments made by debit card may be processed the following business day.
- Payments made by ACH may not be received by the Bankruptcy Court for up to two business days after your payment has been accepted by Pay.gov.
Please allow approximately 3-5 business days from payment to receipt of service. For urgent requests, please visit the court's intake department.
